Parental Rights At Risk

Progressive school administrators are threatening your parental rights.

Recently, in Seattle, WA, a 15-year-old girl was provided counseling and assistance in obtaining an abortion without the knowledge or consent of her parents.  Upon learning of the procedure and complaining to the school principal, they were advised that an emergency "first aid" permission slip, signed by the parents, gave them the authority to counsel and assist the young girl in matters requiring sexual counseling.  The school made the arrangements and put the student into a taxi but did not accompany her for the procedure.

The school claims fear that the student may have been sexually abused at home, or that the parents would react in a manner that would be traumatic to the child, is justifiable cause for them to not notify the parents (if the child so wishes.)

To make the situation even more absurd, the school commented that the policy would require the student's parents to be notified, if a child had a headache, before they could administer an aspirin.  Even then the parents must have had the aspirin previously deposited with the school nurse.  They have no authority to provide the medication on their own.  Aspirins are forbidden.  Abortions are encouraged.  This is insanity!

This is just another example of overreaching by authorities.  This type of  unreasonable policy will most likely trace back to an ultra-liberal school board with full support of the teachers union.  There are existing laws that cover sexual abuse by a parent.   To use the infinitesimal prospect that a student may be sexually abused at home to institute such invasive rulings, is a "red herring" to allow adoption of a liberal sex education and counseling program.

It is imperative that each of us with children (or even grandchildren) in the public school system are aware of any policy that strips you of parental control of your child.  These policies (and those who promote them) must be attacked with the full force of a concerned society.

One way to combat such policies is to become fully involved in school board races in your district.  Make it your business to check out each candidate.  Check their background and their standing in the community.  If there should be a public forum where questions may be asked of board candidates, make it a priority to attend.  Ask the hard questions.  Inquire about their understanding of the district's policy toward parental notification.  Most candidates are concerned citizens like yourself, but if there should be a candidate whose answers are unacceptable to you, it is your duty to actively work to defeat this candidate.

Protect your parental rights.  My Grandmother used to have a favorite saying that sounded strange to me as a child but now makes perfect sense.  "When you pay to feed 'em...then you can tell them what to do!  Until that time that is my job!"

The more we 'sign off', the more liberties are taken.
I can't imagine a school being allowed to take a student on an 'off campus field trip' without permission. Somehow this field trip, and just for fun, an abortion thrown in at no extra charge, is within their mandate. Yes, that school board needs a reboot.

LOL, funny you mention this, I blogged about this last week at JohnnyWalters.com !

Does that mean they've erected special smoking areas for them as well??

This is the whole crux of what our movement is all about. It's not just political offices that need an overhaul...

    It all begins HERE.

I look upon the Board of Education as a "quasi-political" office. Though they are supposed to be "non-partisan" positions those who fill these positions often make their decisions along political or ideolgical lines.
We often elect citizens to the Board of Education that we would not even choose to babysit our children for a few hours.
Some people do not take the time to even investigate those who are seeking these offices and to try and determine their qualifications for the job. How long have they lived in the community? Do they presently have children (or grandchildren) in the district? What do they do for a living? Have they ever had budgetary experience? Do they attend a church on a regular basis? What is their standing in the community? Are they seeking the position for self-serving motives?
It is our duty to determine as much of this information as possible before entering the voting booth. The key is to be informed!
